De Soto’s annual pet licensing program is currently paused following City Council’s approval of a 60-day suspension. This pause allows staff time to take a closer look at the program and evaluate whether the current approach is providing meaningful value to residents.
During the suspension, City staff will review how neighboring communities handle pet licensing, coordinate with the Sheriff’s Office, and develop potential updates for City Council to consider later this winter.
