The Southwest Growth Area (SGA) Plan was officially approved by the City Council during the May 15th meeting —establishing a long-term vision for how more than 1,500 acres south of 95th Street will grow over time.
The plan lays out future land use, road networks, utility infrastructure, and housing options to help guide development in a way that’s coordinated, thoughtful, and community-driven. Most importantly, it emphasizes preserving De Soto’s small-town character while welcoming new opportunities for residents, businesses, and public amenities.
Approval of the plan signifies the intent to incorporate its recommendations into official policy documents like the Comprehensive Plan, Economic Incentives Policy, and Zoning Regulations.
